Color is my language, and I use it boldly and intuitively to evoke emotion and movement. My artistic journey is deeply rooted in an intuitive painting process, ignited by a lifelong passion for vibrant color and rich texture. Over the years, my creative voice has evolved through exploring various mediums, but I continue to come back to anything that involves layers. The versatile combinations of luminous layers of tissue paper, hand-painted pieces, inks, and wax or acrylic mediums allow me to create compositions that radiate depth and intrigue. Each layer builds upon the last, unveiling surprises that reflect the unpredictable and enchanting nature of art itself.
The use of collage, with its ability to combine disparate elements into a cohesive whole, has become my playground for exploration. By repurposing fragments of past artworks, found textures, and organic forms, I imbue my creations with both a sense of history and a forward-looking energy. This process of layering and reimagining allows me to translate the essence of the world around me—into abstract expressions that feel both personal and universal.
As a lifelong Seattleite, my surroundings profoundly shape my art. I live in Burien with my husband and our two Golden Retrievers, whose playful energy often inspires my creative flow. Our frequent trips to the beach offer not only moments of serenity but also visual musings on water, light, and movement, all of which find their way into my compositions. For me, art is a way to celebrate the ever-changing rhythms of nature and life, and I cherish the freedom and discovery that comes with each piece I create.
