Jennifer Oak
Jennifer Oak is a process-focused expressive artist, creating radiant emotive paintings to connect instinctively with the viewer. She’s a life-long practicing artist, leveraging her life experiences and global travels to influence her artistic development.
During the summer of 2020, she became a full-time artist, spending a year deeply immersed in her new process painting practice focusing only on the act of creating with no thought to outcome. This changed her trajectory as an artist, linking value to the mindful journey of a painting, rather than the product. After a year she began entering her work into select juried shows, and at her second show she won the first-place award under the adjudication of Liana Bennet.
“I deliver tranquility to people by creating vibrant energetic paintings layered with nature’s essence and relatable everyday emotions. My paintings represent a remedy for the sometimes overwhelmingly busy culture we experience daily.”
“Different natural environments drive my inspiration, like a specific place, a season, or occurrence. I’ll spend days and weeks intuitively layering color, texture, words, and imagery with no thought to the outcome of an artwork. I practice remaining open and curious to whatever comes forth, focusing on the process of the painting, and not the product.”
“My art is a point of connection—with me, with nature, and the viewer. It’s an opportunity to mindfully connect to oneself while interacting with a painting, like a “you are here” reference point on a map.”
