Chuck Gumpert
Exhibited professionally for more than 20 years throughout Washington, Oregon, and California, Chuck Gumpert’s bold abstracts, impressionistic landscapes, and unique figurative paintings have enticed fine art collectors nationally and internationally, and his work has complemented the work of interior designers and architects in significant public projects in Seattle and Portland.
Lush, varied, mixed media layers of oil, acrylic, ink, graphite, and collage commingle to create organic elements and mystical forms — giving Gumpert’s provocative and gestural works texture, depth, and energy. Chuck enjoys when diverse media and materials coalesce on a complex surface in a harmony of “intentional happy accidents” — abstraction or impressionism which can awaken subjective memories or unconscious associations, the illusion of depth and light, or sense of place and time. The work engages viewers and collectors to experience creatively whatever flows to them through the art.
“Each new painting is a culmination of forty-plus years of education, experiences, emotions, and observations — and a further exploration into my imagination, my memory, and my heart. I don’t think of myself as a poet or philosopher — I’m a visual artist. I believe my ‘story’ is on the canvas — I invite you to explore your own internal and personal narrative!”
